Artist book Family History 1. 11" x 8" opened.

When we first met with my husband, birds were in a very small group of the beings that I didn’t understand and disliked a lot. In the same way that I didn’t understand what love means, and what family means.

Throughout the years I realized that canaries and finches can teach us so many wonderful things, they can teach humans about proper courting, as the male bird is usually starting to build a nest for the female-bird, proper child-rearing, as both of the parents feed their little ones, and just being joyful despite any hardships or fears that they might have.

I also understood that birds can become one’s real friends, and that they are just like us, humans.

The main inspiration for this project were our many song birds who live with us, as well as my husband Lucian, who is an avid ornithologist.
