In my project I am approaching traditional Slavic ornament as a metaphor for the traditions, values and beliefs that gradually were violated and broken.

I was also thinking of a broken ornament of my family roots and connections.

While looking into my relatives’ broken ornament of normal human relationships, and finding the most loving way of addressing these memories, I was also facing the war between Russia and Ukraine. As I am half Russian, half Ukrainian, these events are affecting me greatly on a personal level. That was adding to my feelings of sadness yet strong hope to collect the broken pieces of the ornament together, through love and peaceful relationships.
