The Miami-Dade Days Ties and Scarves Competition honors the identity and culture of Miami-Dade County at the state capitol. This year’s selected design was created by New World School of the Arts visual arts student Emily Jimenez. Using a bold and vibrant color scheme, the piece highlights the silhouette of South Florida, evoking unity, connection, and pride in a shared home. Congrats, Emily ⭐ on this outstanding achievement and fun design!

This Miami Dade Days design reflects the collective journey of students through Miami—both physical and emotional. As New World students with long commutes, they come to know the intertwining streets of downtown through iconic signs, towering buildings, distinctive landmarks, and endless turns that guide them into a city that becomes a second home. The design incorporates layered roads, contour lines of South Miami, and the outline map of South Florida, highlighted in vibrant red and bright blue to echo the energy of “THE Miami.”
